Jurors get back to work Thursday in the Josh Vadell shooting trial. Vadell is the former Atlantic City cop who was shot in the head during a crime in the city’s downtown shopping district back in 2016. Two Cumberland County men are charged with attempted murder and other offenses; Vadell survived the shooting.
The April Kauffman murder case will be featured on ABC’s “20/20” program Friday evening. Kauffman was the Atlantic County woman who was killed by a hired hitman with her husband’s involvement. Her husband eventually committed suicide.
Governor Phil Murphy and his fellow legislative democrats cannot reach a budget agreement. Both sides met on Thursday and at the end of the day, no budget. Murphy is digging his heels on on tax proposals that are getting no support in Trenton. Murphy promises to veto any budget that doesn’t include the tax hikes.

An animal cruelty law that was sponsored by local lawmakers has cleared the Assembly.The law requires animal abusers to pay up for the cost of caring for the animal they harmed. The measure now goes to the full Senate for consideration.
