Cape May City Police are seeking the subject responsible for stealing a John Deere skid steer from the city last Monday. Police say the equipment was stolen during the late afternoon or evening hours. Police ask the public to call if they have any additional information.
Cape May County Acting Prosecutor Robert Johnson is warning residents to be aware of Halloween candy that could include marijuana or other drugs. Johnson says these products are illegal but are being transported into the State. Many towns hold trick or treating on Tuesday.
Lower Cape May Regional High School dedicated its new field house on Saturday. The practice facility cost nearly $3 million and and was built on the site of former tennis courts. The project was part of a larger bond project that includes new roofs for some school buildings, and other amenities.
The four candidates seeking two positions on the Cape May County Board of chosen Freeholders debated Thursday night live on WCZT. Republican incumbents Will Morey and Jeffrey Pierson are challenged by democrats Danielle Davies and Gregory Wall. The election will be held on November 7th.
Millville Police are investigating a shooting incident Tuesday evening that left a man with a shoulder injury. Police say a 26 year old man was shot in the shoulder on North 2nd Street Tuesday night. The victim was walking into a Dollar Plus store when he was shot; no suspects are in custody.
New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez received plenty of support in his corruption trial on Thursday. Another battle is looming in the State’s plans to establish a protective dune system along the Jersey Shore. A condo association outside of Island Beach State Park now wants to block a massive dune project there; members say they should not have to give up their oceanfront property for beach protection.
Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back day, and many local police departments will take part. Police organizations in North Wildwood, Avalon, Ocean City, and other communities will accept unused or unwanted prescription drugs to be dropped off at locations in those communities. New Jersey Congressman Frank LoBiondo will host a veterans enrollment clinic on Saturday at Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing. This will be the 15 clinic hosted by LoBiondo for South Jersey vets who are not yet rolled in the VA benefits and healthcare system.
Friday is a big day at the Cape May County Park and Zoo. The Zoo will receive the official 2017 Accreditation Plaque from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Remarks will be delivered at the ceremony by Freeholder Marie Hayes.
