Authorities in Atlantic County are investigating the discovery of a man’s body over the holiday weekend on Tilton Road in Egg Harbor Township. Authorities say the body of a 45 year old man was found, but his identity and cause of death are not being released at this time. The man was from the Township.
Many local communities held Memorial Day ceremonies and parades. Events were held in local towns including North Wildwood, Avalon, Middle Township, and Sea Isle City. Cape May County prohibit smoking on the Washington Street Mall in the future. Towns are passing new anti-smoking regulations as a way to prohibit smoking of cannabis in public areas. Council may also approve liquor license renewals for the next 12 months during the meeting which begins Tuesday at 6:00pm.
North Wildwood’s city council will meet Tuesday afternoon and could accept a high bid for a new hotel/motel exception liquor license. Council is also expected to authorize emergency work for the Fifth Avenue boat ramp. North Wildwood will open its Hereford Inlet Lighthouse on Thursday, June 3rd.
Stone Harbor could advance a measure that would result in a new lifeguard station to be built after the summer season. A motion is on Tuesday’s agenda that could award the construction of the project as early as July 6th. Council is also expected to approve various special events, and renew two liquor licenses.
New Jersey reported only 223 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday. The number of overall confirmed cases in the Garden State is over 887,000. There were only seven deaths. More than half of the adult population has been vaccinated.
There will be flooding at the Jersey Shore late Saturday night. The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for Cape May County for Saturday evening. There will be no downtown farmers market in Wildwood on Saturday. Organizers announced that the market will not be open on Saturday due to winds and rain that are in the forecast. The opening weekend for the market will be Saturday, June 5th.
