The two seats on the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders will likely stay in the hands of the republicans. With 25 districts reporting, Will Morey and Jeffrey Pierson hold leads over democrats Danielle Davies and Gregory Wall. Morey is the only candidate with over 30 percent of the popular vote, so far.

Curt Corson was re-elected to a Township Committee seat in Upper Township Tuesday evening. Corson easily defeated Kiesha Bond and Jon Grubb in a contested election and keeps control of the Committee in the hands of republicans.
Republican Roland Roy is the winner in Lower Township’s Council election. Roy defeated challenger Chris Marlowe 1221-845 to win the Third Ward seat on the Lower Township Council. Republicans continue to control Council in Lower Township.
It looks like the Sheriff’s race in Cape May County will come down to the wire. Republican Bob Nolan leads democrat Richard Harron by a 2,205 too 1,989 count with seven districts reporting. Harron sought the republican nomination and when he didn’t get it, he flipped to the Democratic Party.
Tim Donohue will remain as the only republican in office in Middle Township. The final numbers are in and Donohue beat Frank Toth by a count of 2,475 to 2,380. Democrats hold a two to one majority in Middle Township.
The three legislative seats up for grabs in our First District will very likely stay with the democrats. Democrats hold a nearly 2-1 lead in balloting in the races. If the numbers hold up, Senator Jeff Van Drew and Assemblymen Bruce Land and Robert Andrzejcak will return to office.
David Bennett and Hector Cruz are the winners in Woodbine’s election. They both ran unopposed for seats on the Woodbine Borough Council; Bennett was the high vote getter with 236 votes. There were two write ins.

Middle Township’s election for one seat on the Township Committee is nearly over. Republican incumbent Tim Donohue has extended his lead over democrat Frank Toth with four of five districts reporting. Donohue has 1956 votes to Toth’s 1,709.
