Two teenagers have been charged with stealing about 20 iPads from an elementary school in Vineland. Vineland Police say they made the arrests following the October 9th burglary at the Sabater Elementary School. Surveillance cameras captured the suspects.
A 35 year old Vineland man admitted in court that he robbed a bank in our region over the past year. Quinton L. Jones of Vineland robbed a branch of the former Cape Bank in Upper Deerfield Township in 2016, and also committed another armed robbery. He could face 20 years behind bars.
A 25 year old Millville man will be sentenced in January on first degree murder charges following his guilty plea earlier this week. Justin Daughtry admitted that he killed 21 year old Sean Hill of Port Norris back in April, 2016.
The Lower Township Council met earlier this week and approved an emergency expenditure for the creation of new tax maps. The current tax maps are decades old. It will cost Lower Township over $700,000 for the creation of the new maps.
Governor-elect Phil Murphy began his day Wednesday by thanking voters in northern New Jersey for his support. Murphy told voters that he had a good conversation with Governor Christie last night, and both men talked about the upcoming transition.

Governor-elect Phil Murphy addressed a large crowd in Asbury Park Tuesday night and promised to bring the State back together. Murphy says there will be a higher minimum wage in the Garden State, and tax relief for the middle class. Murphy also promised to fight President Trump on key issues.
Steve Sweeney 1, the New Jersey Education Association 0. Sweeney held on to his State Senate seat in South Jersey’s Third Legislative District despite the NJEA pouring millions of dollars into the campaign to get him defeated. Sweeney broke a promise to lobby for full funding of pensions owed to the State’s teachers.
The most interesting race in Cape May County Tuesday night resulted in Bob Nolan winning the hotly contested race for Cape May County Sheriff. Nolan defeated Richard Harron, 14,805 votes to 14,130 votes with all of the districts reporting. Nolan will keep the seat in the GOP; Harron sought the GOP endorsement and flipped parties…
Frank Gilliam is the Mayor-elect in Atlantic City. Gilliam defeated republican Don Guardian in Tuesday night’s election, returning the seat back to the democrats. Gilliam says it’s the beginning of a new era in the gaming resort.
