The coastal storm today will bring some street flooding due to heavy rain, and strong gusty winds. Accu Weather has issued a Flood Watch for our region for between one to two inches of rainfall from the storm. Winds could be gusting out of the northeast at 50mph by late afternoon on Thursday.
Five people were rescued after their boat accidentally capsized in the waterway behind 24th Street in Avalon Tuesday evening. Avalon Police report that a resident and his son used their own personal boat to rescue the five individuals. Harrah’s Casino in Atlantic City is spending $56 million on various upgrades. The casino will put money into its Harbour Tower and rename it the Coastal Tower. Over 500 guest rooms and suites will also receive upgrades.

Andy Kim’s time in the Situation Room has paid off. Kim has officially won the 3rd Congressional District race in South Jersey over Tom MacArthur. That means republicans from New Jersey hold just one seat in the upcoming Congress. The provisionals were counted, and Kim has been declared the winner.
The former Atlantic Club Casino in Atlantic City is again under negotiations to be sold. The Press of Atlantic City reports that Advanced Consulting, Inc. from New York is attempting to purchase the property. If it’s sold, the Atlantic Club would be converted into a non-gambling hotel resort.
