For the first time in 12 weeks, New Jersey has recorded over 1,000 new coronavirus cases in a 24 hour period. State officials say there are also three new deaths attributable to the virus. This is the first 1,000 case day since the second week of May.
A Wildwood High grad and Cape May County native is the newest commissioner on the Delaware River and Bay Authority. Heather Baldini was sworn in to her new role as a commissioner, and she will serve through 2025. Baldini was confirmed by the New Jersey Senate in late June for the position.
The United States Coast guard medevaced a diver 46 miles off the coast of Cape May on Wednesday. A 50 year old woman was unresponsive after returning from a dive from a dive vessel. A helicopter was dispatched to the area and took the woman to the closest decompression chamber at the University of Pennsylvania.
North Wildwood Police have charged two juveniles in connection with an assault that injured two others on July 4th. Police say two males from Philadelphia, ages 15 and 16, have been charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy. The assault took place at 7th Avenue and John F. Kennedy Boulevard.

The New Jersey Education Association announced this week that it supports a plan to have teachers and students masked up in September for back to school. The Association is the largest teachers’ union in the Garden State.

A 72 year old woman was revived on the Ocean City beach this week. NJ.com reports that the woman was face down, unresponsive in waist deep water Tuesday morning when her husband reached out for assistance from lifeguards. The woman was provided CPR and regained her pulse before being transported to a local hospital.
