The Friday morning rush hour began with an accident on the Garden State Parkway, just north of the Atlantic City exit. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority reports an accident in the northbound lanes just north of Exit 38; the right lane has been blocked. No word of any injuries.
It’s business as usual today at the Atlantic City International Airport. The airport reports that all flights are on time today and scheduled to depart, and arrive. Always check with your air carrier to make sure your flight is on schedule.
The lights largely stayed on in our region during the blizzard. Atlantic City Electric is reporting only spotty outages in a few areas of South Jersey Friday morning. Strong winds following the storm put distribution lines at risk, but no large outages were reported in our area.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Cape May County for wind chill values approaching -10 Friday night, and again on Saturday night. Winds could gust above 40mph today which will make it feel very cold, very quickly.
An incredibly busy day for the Atlantic City Fire Department got busier Thursday night with a fire at a low income apartment complex. A fire broke out Thursday night on the top floor of the Jeffries Inlet Towers on North Vermont Avenue. Early reports indicated there were no injuries.
New Jersey is mourning the loss of one of its elder statesmen. Former Governor Brendan Byrne died on Thursday at the age of 93. Byrne served two terms as governor, and also served in World War II and an inductee into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Governor Christie called Byrne a “mentor and friend”.
A Family Dollar store in Rio Grande was robbed at gunpoint Thursday morning, and the bandit made off with some cash. Lower Township Police announced early Thursday afternoon that a portion of Breakwater Road has been closed due to the storm. The road from Seashore to Shunpike roads has been closed due to unsafe conditions. As of the 3 o’clock hour, this section of roadway was re-opened, but only to emergency vehicles.
