The Wildwood Fire Department social media page has announced the passing of retired firefighter Walter Larcombe. The post suggests that Larcombe had a battle with cancer. Services will be announced once they are finalized. Larcombe also served as a councilman for the City of North Wildwood.
A 54 year old man has admitted that he defrauded the Federal Emergency Management Agency out of thousands of dollars of Hurricane Sandy relief funding. Nicholas Ochs pleaded guilty in court Monday to the crime that was connected to his mother’s home in Ocean City.
A New Jersey man has pleaded guilty to distributing 49,000 files of child pornography on the internet. State officials say Cullen Kapschock of Mercer County admitted guilt in connection with the case. Kapschock will be handed a six year prison term under terms of his guilty plea. Sentencing will be held in early January.

Sears and KMart have announced the list of stores to be closed during its Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization. A KMart on Delsea Drive in Glassboro is slated to close, along with a Sears store at the Deptford Mall. The Sears at the Hamilton Mall is already on the closure list.
Sears has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and 142 additional Kmart and Sears stores are scheduled to close. Sears has 11 remaining stores in New Jersey; the location at the Hamilton Mall had previously been identified for closure.
North Wildwood’s council meets Tuesday. Council is expected to approve agreements with other municipalities for shared Construction Official and Tax Assessor services. It may also approved a resolution that would oppose the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Two freeholder meetings are having changes in time or date. The meeting to be held on October 23rd will start one hour earlier, at 3:30pm; the meeting advertised to be held on November 13th will be held on November 8th instead. The meetings will be held at the County’s administration building.
New Jersey’s black bear hunt is over and 139 bears were killed during the last week. The bear hunt was a big decline over previous years as Governor Murphy prohibited the bear from being hunted on State-owned lands.
