North Wildwood will be hosting the annual Fallen Heroes Polar Bear Plunge on February 24th. City officials announced that the event will be held at the 15th Street beach, with a post party to be held at Keenan’s Irish Pub. More information is available at FallenHeroPlunge.com.
Ocean City is in the process of moving stockpiled sand to help rebuild the dunes between 10th Street and 12th Street in the city. City officials say the sand was placed during a recent federally-funded beach fill project; the boardwalk is also being repaired in the same two block area.

The City of Millville is paying $472,000 to end whistleblower lawsuits that were brought on by five current and former employees of the city. The Daily Journal reports that the complaints stemmed from working conditions inside the code enforcement and construction offices. The city will be responsible for $161,000; insurance covers the rest.
The Lower Township Police Department will welcome William Porch to its ranks during the Township Council meeting to be held on February 5th. Porch is 27 years old and a graduate of Lower Cape May Regional High School. Porch has completed his 22 weeks of training at the Cape May County Police Academy.
Spirit Airlines announced Thursday that it will offer air service from Atlantic City to New Orleans starting April 13th. Four non-stop flights per week will fly between the two destinations. Spirit has been operating out of the Atlantic City International Airport for the past 27 years.

Governor Phil Murphy’s plans to legalize recreational marijuana in New Jersey may not go anywhere. New Jersey Advance Media reports that at least a half dozen state senators from Murphy’s democratic party–including Jeff Van Drew–will not support the measure. Democrats have 25 of the 40 seats in the New Jersey State Senate.
