A two-vehicle traffic accident on Route 40 in Hamilton Township resulted in a serious injury to one of the drivers. Police say a car driven by Jihad Ali of Millville crossed the center line of the highway and struck another vehicle. Ali was was transported by medics to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Middle Township Police arrested a 27 year old woman who threatened to blow up “unemployment” and Atlantic Cape Community College on Facebook. Dara Kingsman was criminally charged accordingly with terroristic threats and was released without incident. The campus of the local college was searched; nothing was found.
Cape May County Freeholder Director Gerry Thornton is the new director of the Southern New Jersey Freeholders’ Association. Thornton was sworn in to the position by fellow Freeholder Len Desiderio during a meeting held on Monday. The Association represents eight South Jersey counties.
County freeholders introduced the new County budget Tuesday night. The new spending plan totals $152.6 million and includes a four percent increase over last year. The tax rate for the County will climb by a little over one half of one cent.

The Avalon Police Department will fill leadership positions during the Borough Council meeting Wednesday afternoon. Longtime Avalon Police Chief William McCormick will retire, and address Council. A new chief and captain are expected to be named during the meeting, and other positions filled. The meeting begins at 4:00pm.
The Dennis Township Committee will meet Tuesday evening with various appointments to make. Two positions on the environmental commission, and three positions on the consolidated land use board will be made. Various campground licenses will also be authorized by the Committee at the meeting, which begins at 6:30pm.
