A huge tract of land that used to house a Shoprite Supermarket in Vineland will hit the auction block next Wednesday. City officials say the land is 8.33 acres in size, and carries a minimum bid of $2.5 million. The family that owns the property wants to sell it so it can be redeveloped.
Lower Township Police officers paid their respects to one of their fallen heroes, David C. Douglass Sr. Officers placed a wreath at his gravesite on Tuesday. Douglass lost his life in the line of duty back in 1994 when he responded to a call at the Bayshore Mall shopping center. Douglass was 34 years old.
Country star Troy Gentry’s fatal helicopter crash in South Jersey was blamed on pilot error. The National Transportation Safety Board say the pilot of the aircraft cut the engine too soon as he attempted to make an emergency landing in September, 2017. Funeral services will be held Friday in Sea Isle City for 89 year old Marie Zielinski, who died during a stubborn house fire last week. Zielinski was killed when her home and two other properties were engulfed in flames. Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Sea Isle.
