Middle Township is retaining its Chief Financial Officer for another four years. The Township announced that Susan Anastasio-Quinones will keep her position in the finance department. She began her career in Middle Township seven years ago as a deputy in the department.
Fire caused damage to a home that was unoccupied in Ocean City on Thursday. Fire officials say the blaze occurred in a residential home on North Street. Smoke and fire was coming from the roof when firemen arrived. There were no injuries.
The minimum wage is going up this summer in New Jersey. The New Jersey Legislature approved a new bill that will increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2024. This summer the wage will increase to $10 an hour, and go up by one dollar each year until it hits the $15 mark.
A girl scout troop leader from central New Jersey was removed from her troop after police determined that $1,000 in girl scout cookie sales was not actually stolen by someone else. Matthew Milam is once again an assemblyman from our 1st Legislative District. Milam took his oath of office Thursday to fill a seat that was eventually created by the ascension of Jeff Van Drew to Congress. Milam previously served in the State Assembly from 2008 through 2013.

An unexpected surprise for students at the Cape May Technical High School Thursday morning as authorities conducted a drug sweep.
