The World Series of Birding will be happening this Saturday in Cape May County. The event allows competitors the opportunity to find the largest number of bird species in a 24 hour period. Its the 35th anniversary of the event, held by the New Jersey Audubon’s Cape May Bird Observatory.
Patrick Callahan will continue in his role as the superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. Governor Phil Murphy decided to give the job to Callahan, who was appointed by former governor Chris Christie. Callahan must still be confirmed by the New Jersey Senate.
Public workers could now lose their benefits and pensions if they are convicted of some new offenses. A new bill approved by lawmakers now adds harassment, sexual assault, and lewdness to the list of offenses that can cost employees their retirement benefits. Assemblyman John Armato of Atlantic County sponsored the bill.
A 32 year old New York man has been indicted for committing a heinous sexual assault of a housekeeper at Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City this year. Jamel Carlton has been indicted on numerous charges, from aggravated assault to burglary. The indictment was handed up by an Atlantic County grand jury.
