North Wildwood city officials will meet this morning for its first Council meeting of the month. Council is expected to hold second readings of ordinances that deal with animals, and parking and loading zones. Council will also consider a new bench dedication program, and establish a new Jitney route.
It’s National Night Out night in Cape May County. Many communities including Avalon, the Wildwoods, Middle Township, and others will all be holding special activities this evening that include demonstrations, games, music, and food. The night is intended to bring the community together to address public safety issues.
Cape May city officials will hold a special meting on Monday to discuss future redevelopment in the city. Mayor Chuck Lear announced that the meeting will be held Monday, August 13th, at 7:00pm. A presentation will be made by a special redevelopment consultant.
Vineland Police are investigating a possible suspicious death at a mobile home park. The Daily Journal reports that police went to Lake Acres on Monday afternoon and secured a mobile home with police tape. Police had requested a search warrant at the scene. No additional details are available.
Stockton University is thinking about buying the closed Atlantic Club Casino. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the Board of Trustees at the university will discuss this issue on Wednesday. The casino was purchased four years ago for $13.4 million; the university has funds to buy the casino after it unloaded the Seaview Resort.

Single use plastic bags and straws will be banned from all Atlantic County parks as of Monday. County officials say the plastics will be banned as a way to improve environmental standards.
