A kilogram of cocaine with a street value of $32,000 was recovered by authorities during a traffic stop in the Villas, Lower Township. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office announced that the drugs were recovered on March 6th; a handgun was also recovered. No word yet on who was behind the wheel of the vehicle.

Local businesswoman Louise Lloyd has passed away at the age of 75. Lloyd died last month in Florida. Lloyd was from Cape May Court House and founded Teaberry Antiques, and ran the former Lloyd’s Offshore Restaurant. Services will be held on Sunday.
Avalon Mayor Marty Pagliughi will run unopposed in the May municipal election. The deadline to submit petitions to run for office expired Monday afternoon, and Pagliughi was the only candidate seeking the mayor’s position. Three candidates will also seek two Council seats; two of them will run on a ticket with Pagliughi.
A traffic jughandle located on North Wildwood Boulevard will be closed for a period of about two months so bulkhead work can be completed. The city announced the project on its website and notes that Jughandle K to Anglesea Drive will be closed during this project. The anticipated start date is March 18th.
43 year old Santos Blanco of Atlantic City was in court just before the weekend and admitted to sexually assaulting two boys. Atlantic County authorities say Blanco will now face 12 years in prison for the crimes. One of the children was assaulted over a duration of several years.
The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce is calling Monday’s media event “Save our Sea”. The Chamber is again holding a public event to protest proposed seismic testing in the Atlantic Ocean. Seismic testing could be held as early as next month as a way to test for offshore fuel opportunities for the United States.
Sea Isle City’s council meets Tuesday and is expected to introduce an ordinance that will set certain regulations for how and when motor vehicles can drive on flooded streets. Council is also expected to approve a resolution that allows the city to take bids regarding ice cream and kayak franchise agreements.
