An appellate court has ruled that New Jersey’s graduation requirements are not legal. The court ruled that the state cannot force students to pass two exams before graduating high school. The new regulation will take effect at the end of this month. Currently, the state offers two tests, Algebra I and English.
Nick Foles will be under center when the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Chicago Bears in a playoff game Sunday afternoon. Eagles coach Doug Pederson says the plan is to start files in the wildcard matchup. The Eagles play the last game of the wildcard weekend.
Longtime Somers Point Police Chief Michael Boyd has retired. Boyd ended a 31 year career in law enforcement on New Year’s Eve. He started with the department in August, 1987. He recently also served as patrol division supervisor.
The Dennis Township Committee will hold its official reorganization on Wednesday evening. Two councilmembers will be sworn in to office, Frank Germanio Jr. and Matthew Cox. The Committee will select a mayor from among its governing body, and make various professional appointments.
The Lower Township municipal government will reorganize Wednesday evening. Three republican incumbent councilmembers were re-elected in November: Roland Roy, Jr, Tom Conrad, and David Perry. Council will be making various appoints, including bond counsel, public information officer, and other positions. The meeting begins Wednesday at 7:00pm.

Ocean City has moved a skating event for tonight’s First Night activities inside due to the threat of rain. The event was scheduled to be located on basketball courts and now has been moved to the city’s Intermediate School. The city has provided free Jitney service for the evening.
Pleasantville Police are looking for a 22 year old man who is non-communicative. Police say David Freeman Jr. went missing on Harrison Avenue in the community Sunday at 6:00pm. The Committee is expected to select a new mayor now that the committee returns to a 2-1 republican majority following the swearing in of committeeman elect Ike Gandy.
