Avalon began its sand back passing project over the weekend. Avalon will transport over 55,000 cubic yards of sand from a borrow area in the central part of town and transport it to the northern part of the community. The project is expected to be finished before Memorial Day weekend.
Stone Harbor will consider a large bond ordinance during its meeting on Tuesday. Council will consider a bond ordinance that will finance some capital purchases, including a trash truck, firefighting equipment, security cameras, along with back bay dredging work.
Middle Township will hold its budget hearing on April 15th. The Township Committee will discuss the budget, which includes no increase in the local tax levy. The budget totals just over $22 million, with added assessments at $88,000.

Friday was not a good day for the Cape May Lewes Ferry system. The MV New Jersey experienced engine trouble on the bay and passengers were briefly stranded on the vessel. There was a two hour delay getting back to port. A Northstar Marine tugboat assisted the ferry boat back to port.

Several communities are seeking volunteers for various beach sweeps they are having in conjunction with Clean Ocean Action, on Saturday April 13th. Communities including Avalon, Wildwood Crest, and Sea Isle City are holding the events to make a portion of their beaches cleaner in advance of the summer tourism season.
