Something new on the beach for the hundreds of thousands of visitors coming to the area this weekend..no smoking. New Jersey law now mandates that smoking is prohibited on public beaches in the Garden State. Wildwood Crest has carved out a small section of its beach for smokers, allowable by state law.
Avalon’s new Surfside Park is having a soft open this weekend. Final preparations are being made at the Park that includes new playground equipment, bathrooms, a changing station, rinsing stations, gazebo, and lawn play area. The Park will officially open on June 22nd with live music and Philadelphia sports personalities.
North Wildwood Police have announced no parking restrictions in the city’s entertainment district during the Memorial Day weekend, for public safety reasons. The restrictions will be in effect from 6:00pm until 6:00am Friday through Sunday. Ride share drivers will be able to pick up and drop off passengers during those times.
Wildwood’s popular beach parking lot will be open for the season as of Saturday at 10:00am. The beach parking lot is located at Baker Avenue and the beach, and the fee is ten dollars for a four wheel vehicle. The lot is open until 5:00pm daily.
It’s setting up to be a banner Memorial Day weekend at the Jersey Shore. Accu Weather is calling for the chance of a shower or thunderstorm later this morning and more likely this evening, before sunshine moves in for the weekend with seasonal temperatures. The only chance for a shower is Saturday night.

The City Commission voted 2-1 in favor of ousting Fox who is the subject of multiple violations stemming from his position as mayor of West Wildwood. There’s a chance a four-story, $16 million Hampton Inn hotel could come to Middle Township. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the company needs a change in zoning and other approvals before the project can move forward. The proposed location is right off the Garden State Parkway, off Stone Harbor Boulevard.
