A tractor trailer accidentally wiped out a utility pole and utility cables near the Cape May Lewes Ferry terminal Monday afternoon. The republican candidate for a State Senate seat in our district is reportedly out raising, and out spending, his incumbent democratic opponent. The Press of Atlantic City reports that Michael Testa Jr. has raised $133,500 in the race for the Senate seat currently held by democrat Robert Andrzejczak. The election will be held in November.
Five people were injured Monday morning in Ventnor when a New Jersey Transit bus collided with an automobile driven by a 20 year old Margate man. Police say both drivers, and three passengers on the bus suffered non-life threatening injuries. The accident occurred near the Ventnor Shopping Plaza.

A Powerball lottery ticket worth $50,000 was sold at the rest stop on the Garden State Parkway in Atlantic County. The ticket was purchased in advance of Saturday night’s drawing where no top prize was awarded. A second ticket worth the same amount of money was sold in northern New Jersey, according to lottery officials.
It’s looking very unlikely that the legalization of marijuana in New Jersey will happen this year. New Jersey will expand the availability of medicinal marijuana in the coming weeks, but recreational pot seems unlikely in 2019. There’s not enough support in the State Legislature to get recreational pot across the finish line.
