Lower Township Police say work will continue after the holiday weekend on the Upper Thorofare Bridge on Ocean Drive in the Cold Spring Section of Lower Township. Once that bridge work is completed, work will begin on the Mill Creek Bridge and last until the end of June.
The New Jersey Assembly approved a bill Thursday that will not subject short term rentals at the Jersey Shore to various taxes. The legislation passed unanimously on Thursday and now heads to the Senate. Lawmakers have been blistered by shore rental property owners and realtors about the extension of this tax.
Authorities are seeking information on the suspect involved in the sexual assault of a woman on Anglesea Drive in North Wildwood Tuesday evening. A male approached a woman in the 500 block of Anglesea Drive, and fled the area. The man is described to be in his 50s with short brown hair and clean shaven.
2019 will be a near normal hurricane season for eastern seaboard of the United States. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released its hurricane report today and it shows four to eight hurricanes forming with two to four being major storms. The Atlantic Ocean averages a dozen named storms every year.
Something new on the beach for the hundreds of thousands of visitors coming to the area this weekend..no smoking. New Jersey law now mandates that smoking is prohibited on public beaches in the Garden State. Wildwood Crest has carved out a small section of its beach for smokers, allowable by state law.
Avalon’s new Surfside Park is having a soft open this weekend. Final preparations are being made at the Park that includes new playground equipment, bathrooms, a changing station, rinsing stations, gazebo, and lawn play area. The Park will officially open on June 22nd with live music and Philadelphia sports personalities.
North Wildwood Police have announced no parking restrictions in the city’s entertainment district during the Memorial Day weekend, for public safety reasons. The restrictions will be in effect from 6:00pm until 6:00am Friday through Sunday. Ride share drivers will be able to pick up and drop off passengers during those times.
Wildwood’s popular beach parking lot will be open for the season as of Saturday at 10:00am. The beach parking lot is located at Baker Avenue and the beach, and the fee is ten dollars for a four wheel vehicle. The lot is open until 5:00pm daily.

Accu Weather is calling for the chance of a shower or thunderstorm later this morning and more likely this evening, before sunshine moves in for the weekend with seasonal temperatures.
