A new Quinnipiac poll shows that the lead Senator Bob Menendez has enjoyed over republican challenger Bob Hugin is nearly gone. The new poll gives Menendez only a six percentage point lead over Hugin. Menendez’s lead has dissolved over the past five months due largely to ethics charges filed against him.
The Sears department store at the Hamilton Mall is done. Sears announced it was closing nearly 50 stores including the store at the Hamilton Mall, which will close around Halloween. Sears has been a longtime anchor store fixture at the mall.
A lightning strike on a utility pole in Ocean City was responsible for wires coming down on the roadway and setting a car on fire. It happened Tuesday night during a thunderstorm at 27th Street and Asbury Avenue, according to WPVI-TV. Another car was damaged; there were no injuries.

A 27 year old Atlantic City man has received a prison term of 17 years for repeated sexual assaults against children. Adan Otero received the long prison sentence for sexually assaulting four children, all under the age of ten years old. The assaults took place in 2016.
Middle Township’s boys and girls soccer teams met the Philadelphia Union last Thursday. The teams were able to meet Union players and coaches, and hold a training session on the field. Middle Township’s boys team will play Mainland at Talen Energy Stadium on October 9th.
There will be no more bear hunts on New Jersey state property. Governor Murphy signed an executive order that eliminates the bear hunts on any state land. Murphy is asking State lawmakers to consider restricting bear hunts on other property as well.
