Jim’s Lunch in Millville will be open this fall. NJ.com reports that the popular restaurant, which closed earlier this year due to a neighboring building being condemned, plans to open after the summer. Ironically, the popular eatery closes every summer and remains an offeseason business.
Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian is defending the city’s purchase of a former car dealership property for $9 million. Gillian announced over the weekend that the city paid fair market value for the dealership; the property will be converted into some sort of public use.
A 31 year old woman was arrested by Hamilton Township Police on charges she repeatedly stabbed a man during an argument early Friday morning. Authorities say Jillian Bellone-McMaster stabbed the victim repeatedly during the argument in Mays Landing. She fled the scene but was captured a short time later by police.
The United States Coast Guard rescued a man and his granddaughter in Grassy Sound over the Labor Day weekend. The Coast Guard reports that they were on board a personal watercraft that ran aground on Thursday evening. Both were taken to the hospital with no reported injuries.
Wildwood Crest has postponed the Saturday night concert featuring the B Street Band until Monday afternoon. The threat of rain and thunderstorms has postponed the show, which will be held at Centennial Park Monday at 1:00pm.
Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Friday Night Fireworks scheduled for the Wildwoods beach tonight, Friday, August 31st, have been postponed. The fireworks will instead be displayed on Sunday at 10:00 PM from the regular location at Pine Avenue.
Longtime Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek announced his retirement from the National Football League. Celek spent 11 years with the Eagles and despite offers coming in from other teams, he called it quits on Friday.
Two people were rescued from a sinking boat Thursday in the Barnegat Inlet. The United States Coast Guard could not stop the boat from sinking but were able to rescue the two people on board, with no injuries reported. The boat sank after striking a jetty.
Labor Day weekend is here, the final big summer weekend at the Jersey Shore. The weekend will start with cloudy and humid conditions; it will cool off and turn drier towards getaway Monday. Businesses are hoping for good visitation despite a largely cloudy forecast.
