Gasoline is a bargain heading into Labor Day weekend. Mid Atlantic AAA reports that gas prices dropped by a whopping ten cents a gallon in the past week to an average of $2.66 a gallon in Cape May County. We are still six cents above the national average, but right at the state average.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has vetoed a bill approved by lawmakers that would have wiped out some minor marijuana infractions for thousands statewide. Murphy instead would like to see a new automated record removal process for those who have been clean for ten years.
A 48 year old teacher at Mainland Regional High School has been accused of exposing himself to a female on the Ocean City beach. Police say Christopher Denn was arrested two weeks ago and charged with criminal sexual contact. Denn is also known in our region for being a local swimming coach.
Atlantic City Police have charged an 18 year old man with drug offenses after cops found 291 grams of pot inside his car, along with a scale. Police arrested Jasir Turner last Wednesday morning. Police report they could smell pot coming from the car.
Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano is not happy that Governor Murphy stripped out funding that would have financed long-term repairs to the Wildwood boardwalk. Some democratic lawmakers have also blasted Murphy for the move. A proposal would have sent $4 million annually to help with boardwalk reconstruction efforts.

Ocean City officials announced that a meeting will be held with Orsted, a company that has been authorized to develop an offshore wind farm off our coastline. The meeting will be held next Tuesday at the Stainton Senior Center, starting at 6:30pm.
An unknown republican from New Jersey announced today he will seek his party’s nomination for a United States Senate seat currently held by democrat Cory Booker. Stuart Meissner announced he has formed an exploratory committee for a campaign. Meissner calls Booker’s record “abysmal”.
Zachary Palombo is the new principal of the Cape May City Elementary School. The Board of Education approved the appointment of Palombo to the position last week. He leaves Lower Cape May Regional where he served as assistant principal.
