Four Cumberland County residents have been charged by State Police with various drugs and weapons offenses. Among them was 27 year old James Rose of Bridgeton, who is accused of operating a drug business out of a mobile home park in Vineland. Rose and others have been slapped with various weapons and drug offenses.
Governor Phil Murphy held a press conference Thursday, asking New Jerseyans to be careful during this weekend’s heat wave. Murphy says it will be just as hot at the shore as it will be in the mountains. Some local communities are opening cooling centers for those who have no air conditioning at home.
Atlantic City Electric wants the public to conserve electricity during this weekend’s heat wave. The utility is asking customers to cut back their use of electricity between the hours of 1pm and 5pm in an attempt to save power. The utility says there should be sufficient electricity to meet the higher demand period.
New Jersey’s unemployment rate is at an all time low of 3.5 percent. That’s the lowest figure since the state began keeping records back in 1976. New Jersey is two tenths of a percent lower than the national average.
More internal problems for the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders. The Press of Atlantic City reports that Freeholder Director Gerald Thornton and the County are involved in a whistle blower lawsuit filed by former Purchasing Agent Kim Allen. An appellate court has reinstated the lawsuit on a 2-1 vote.

A 31 year old police officer in the Mercer County, NJ Homicide Task Force was arrested Wednesday and charged with the murder of his three month old daughter. Daniel Bannister was busted and charged with the death of his daughter Hailey, who last December suffered a fractured skull, brain bleed, and multiple fractured ribs.
The Hamilton Mall has changed hands. Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson told the Press of Atlantic City that the Mall was purchased by a New York based realty group. The group specializes in distressed malls. Recently the Hamilton Mall lost both JC Penny and Sears.
