The Cape Atlantic League boys’ basketball semifinals are postponed until tomorrow night. The matchups are St. Augustine vs. Ocean City at 5pm, followed by Wildwood Catholic and Pleasantville, at 7pm. Governor Phil Murphy has enacted a commercial vehicle ban on many state highways due to the snowstorm. Murphy says driving conditions will worsen throughout the day. The commercial vehicle ban is not in effect on the Garden State Parkway or Atlantic City Expressway.
Many school districts in both Atlantic and Cumberland counties are closed today as a result of the approaching winter storm. Districts including Atlantic City, Buena, Egg Harbor Township, Galloway, Millville, and Vineland are all closed. Some others have early dismissals.
There’s another State of Emergency for the Garden State today. The declaration went into effect Wednesday at 5:00am and is expected to continue throughout the day. This allows all 21 counties to have access to resources to combat today’s winter storm.
Wildwood Catholic’s boys basketball team is hoping to reach the finals of the Cape Atlantic League boys basketball championship Wednesday night. The Crusaders will take on Pleasantville in a semifinal game to be aired live on WCZT Radio at 7:00pm. The stream of the game will appear on Facebook, and on CoastSportsToday.com.
Three people were killed during a motor vehicle accident at a gas station on Route 23 in Wayne, New Jersey Tuesday morning. A driver who was allegedly on drugs hit a guardrail, crashing into the gas station. Two people inside that car were killed, along with a 23 year old gas station attendant.
New Jersey now has an expanded family leave law. Governor Murphy signed a new bill on Tuesday that will expand family leave coverage from six to twelve months, and allow caregivers to provide care for someone outside of their immediate family. The new legislation will require larger payments during leave and allow caregivers to provide care to individuals beyond their immediate family. State business groups oppose the bill.
