New Jersey State Police Captain Patrick Gallagher joined other law enforcement officials in North Wildwood over the weekend for the fallen heroes remembrance. The annual weekend in North Wildwood honors the surviving family members of those who lost their lives in the Garden State protecting the public.
Atlantic City Police are searching for a man who committed an overnight burglary of a convenience store last week. Police have released a photo of the suspect who broke into the store when it was closed to steal cigarettes and an undetermined amount of money.
Lower Township Police discovered a structure fire on the 1600 block of Bayshore Road Sunday morning. Police say Patrolman William Kosic discovered the fire, which drew response from several area fire departments. No word of any injuries, or what may have started the fire.
North Wildwood’s city council meets Tuesday afternoon and could approve two upcoming capital improvement projects. Council may authorize an emergency outfall pipe repair at the Third Avenue beach, and may authorize storm sewer repairs at 16th and Delaware avenues. Tuesday’s meeting begins at 5:00pm.
Cape May’s city council meets Tuesday and is expected to discuss some updates to the Lafayette Street Park plan. Council may adopt the changes to the plan via resolution at the meeting. Cape May may also submit a grant application to the State for the reconstruction of Pennsylvania Avenue between Brooklyn and Baltimore avenues.
Stone Harbor is expected to appoint two police officers during Tuesday’s Council meeting. Austin Michael Rothmans and Scott Michael Thomas, Jr. are expected to receive the new positions. Council is also expected to authorize a new plan that would allow affordable housing to be constructed in the community.
Former Wildwood Mayor Gary DeMarzo was wrongly charged and prosecuted by former Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor. The Press of Atlantic City reports that a jury ruled late last week that Taylor erred in prosecuting DeMarzo for an alleged misuse of municipal funds.
The price you pay for a gallon of gasoline goes up Monday in the Garden State. Prices will rise slightly over four cents per gallon thanks to another increase in the gasoline tax imposed by the State. The extra money will finance transportation projects throughout New Jersey.

A Hamilton Township police officer was injured in an automobile accident Friday afternoon. Police say a police vehicle was struck by a pickup driven by 37 year old David Massler of Mays Landing on Route 40. Massler was charged with careless driving; the officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
