The Middle Township Planning Board meeting this week is expected to include a presentation about the future of the former KMart store in Rio Grande. The County is intending to convert the property to more of a public use. The meeting will be held at Township Hall Thursday at 7pm.

Governor Phil Murphy is expected to sign a new law that will expand the medical marijuana program in New Jersey. Lawmakers in Trenton approved the new law last week. Currently there are only six dispensaries for medical marijuana in the Garden State.
Some additional paving operations will occur on the new Sea Isle Boulevard in Dennis Township this week. County officials say the paving will be done at night, largely after 8pm. No injuries are reported after a small plane nose dived into a grassy area next to the Ocean City Municipal Airport on Saturday. The plane crashed nose first Saturday morning. The Cessna C140 went into a marshy area; wind is expected to be a factor in the accident.
Lower Township Police have announced road closures in advance of the July 3rd fireworks festival. Beach Drive and Shore Road will be closed to all street parking from Wednesday, July 3rd at 8am until the conclusion of the event, around 11pm. No parking signs will be posted.
Cape May has unveiled a new summertime jitney service that begins operations this weekend. The new Cape May Transit Jitney Service will operate daily from 11am until 11pm with free service provided by the city to passengers. Service runs along the beachfront and from the park and ride lot at the local school.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is still not backing down from his millionaires’ tax. He held a press conference in Trenton on Friday and said he would meet his obligation to sign a state budget, but still says all options are on the table. Murphy has threatened to cut funding for special pet projects.
