A big event in downtown Wildwood has been postponed this weekend due to the threat of rain. The annual Wine and Chocolate Festival will be rescheduled for the weekend of May 4th and 5th. There is a chance of a shower or thunderstorm during most of Saturday, into parts of Sunday.
Leaking sewage pipes may force the closure of a beach in Belmar until the problem is fixed. The Asbury Park Press reports that human waste is leaked into the Shark River, and is causing elevated levels of fecal coliform bacteria. The state may shut the beach down until the problem is resolved.
A 22 year old Estell Manor man has been charged with dumping trash into a wildlife management area in Cumberland and Atlantic counties. Authorities say David Udowiczyk tossed the trash into the Peaslee Wildlife Management Area. The trash was largely contractor bags; he’s been fined $20,000.
Atlantic City casino hotel occupancy is declining. New figures released today by the Division of Gaming Enforcement show that just over 80 percent of all casino rooms were rented last year, which is a 6.2 percent drop from one year prior. A water main break is impacting travel Thursday on a portion of Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House. Middle Township Police say the break occurred this morning near Magnolia Drive. There are some road closures and traffic delays in the area until the crews are finished repairing the break.
