A mutual aid call out was made shortly before 9:00am Tuesday for a structure fire in Dennis Township. Fire departments from onshore communities were called to the fire on Hawthorne Drive. No additional details about the fire are available at this time.

An overturned tractor trailer on Route 55 last week is apparently responsible for some stink in the water serviced by Mantua Creek. Residents are complaining about a fuel sheen on the water and have complained that fuel spilled into the creek is foul smelling. About 8,000 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled in the accident.
Gene Allen is back as head coach of the Atlantic City High School boys’ basketball program. A judge ruled Monday that the Board of Education violated Allen’s right to due process and reinstated Allen as coach for the upcoming season. The Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City has inked a deal with a big concert promoter to bring some big acts to the new gaming facility. Fire damaged a room at a Howard Johnson’s motel in Egg Harbor Township Saturday evening. Authorities say the say was largely contained to one room, and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Some chicken products are being recalled from ShopRite supermarkets in New Jersey because they are mislabeled and may contain ingredients that are allergens. Four different items that are 16-ounce trays of ready to cook chicken are being recalled; the problem was discovered on December 5th during a routine verification last week.
Middle Township Police will be hosting a forum Monday evening at the Township’s Performing Arts Center to discuss new technology that school aged children are using. The forum will address sexting, cyber bullying, and various New Jersey laws and trends. The forum is also presented by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
