Lower Township Police say all of the fire departments in the community responded to a stubborn house fire that destroyed a home located at 2727 Bay Drive in the Villas Tuesday morning. When officers arrived, the house was fully involved in flames. No injuries are reported; the cause of the fire is under investigation.
New Jersey State Police are searching for 36 year old Martin Casiano-Roque of Atlantic City. He is wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a child. Police say are welcoming anonymous tips to his whereabouts.
Walgreens is closing hundreds of stores throughout the United States, including the store located at Delsea Drive and Landis Avenue in Vineland. The Daily Journal reports that the store closed last week, on November 6th. The pharmacy had been open for a little over six years.
Federal flood insurance rates will not be going up for at least another year. The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that proposed rate hikes that would have started next October 1st have been delayed for another year. Senator Robert Menendez says he’s “pleased” with the delay.
Code Blue is in effect in Cape May County from Wednesday at 6pm until the following morning. The Code Blue designation means that municipalities shall provide for some temporary shelter from the cold for those who need it in their communities. Galloway Township Police have charged a 15 year old boy with breaking into three businesses this month. Police say the owner of Giovanni’s II Pizzeria caught the boy breaking into his business during the early morning hours on Sunday. The youth is charged with three counts of burglary, theft, and criminal mischief.
Police in Brigantine arrested a 26 year old South Jersey man and a Florida woman early Monday after they found a gun, ammunition, and pot inside their vehicle. Police say Christian L. A huge fire has obliterated a home located bayside in the Villas today. Fire and smoke were seen for miles throughout the day as the home went up in flames in the 2700 block of Bay Drive. No reports yet of any injuries.
Avalon’s large beach fill project has finished ahead of schedule. The Avalon municipal website notes that 675,000 cubic yards of sand were placed on the beaches between 9th and 20th streets to repair damage caused by repeated coastal storms.
