Spirit Airlines is increasing the number of flights between Atlantic City and Florida this summer. The airline announced that additional flights will run to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Myrtle Beach. Spirit has been flying to Atlantic City since 1992.
A 70 year old school bus driver from northern New Jersey has been charged with sexually assaulting two female students, both minors. Authorities say Thomas Thomasevich of Oakland is accused of assaulting two girls under the age of 13 in front of other students. He works for a school bus company based in Butler.
Fire budgets were approved last weekend in Middle, Lower, Upper, and Dennis townships. Voters also approved the construction of a new firehouse in Goshen by a scant 15 votes.
It’s another Tri County Classic Division championship for the Wildwood boys basketball team. Wildwood knocked off Gloucester Catholic at home Tuesday night, 68-59 to win the title. If you ever wanted to own your own island in Cape May County, now you can. NJ.com reports that the so-called “No Man’s Island” near West Wildwood is for sale for $200,000. The island is 19 acres in size and is completely undeveloped. It’s owned by an investor from Queens, New York.
Assemblyman Erik Simonsen has negotiated for a New Jersey Transit bus stop to be located near the Cape May Airport, on Hornet Road. Simonsen announced that the new bus stop will be in effect by June. He and Lower Township Councilman Tom Conrad asked for the bus stop to be added.
The Ingram’s Thorofare Bridge on Avalon Boulevard in Middle Township will not close overnight Thursday, as anticipated. The contractor doing work on the bridge will instead close it during the overnight hours next Monday, into early Tuesday morning. The bridge is undergoing a major, two year rehabilitation project.
A Jitney that was stolen Sunday in Atlantic City was recovered on Tuesday. NJ.com reports that the Jitney was stolen in Ducktown Sunday night and was spotted a few blocks away Tuesday morning. Jitneys operate around the clock in Atlantic City and are owned by independent contractors.
