A new recreational marijuana bill to be considered by lawmakers in Trenton this month would allow you to carry one ounce of pot. NJ Advance Media reports that people would only be allowed to smoke in private residences or in consumption lounges. A Cannabis Regulatory Commission would also be formed.
One person is dead following a motor vehicle accident on Route 55 early this morning. Police say the accident occurred in Elk Township near Exit 48. A pedestrian was involved in the accident; there are no other details provided. The crash took place in the northbound lane.

Sports betting is a huge hit in Atlantic City this over the past year. New gaming figures show that $2 billion in sports bets have been made in New Jersey since it was legalized last year. The extra revenue boosted the casino win figures in Atlantic City by 26 percent.
Vineland Police continue to investigate a shooting earlier this week on New Peach Street. Police say a 21 year old man was shot in his left hand; he claims someone inside a passing car opened fire and caused the injury. Police have announced no motive for the shooting.
Wildwood Police say drug charges have been filed against a 30 year old Wildwood man following a motor vehicle stop on Rio Grande Avenue Tuesday. Police say Gabriel Acevedo-Curbelo of Wildwood was charged after heroin, narcotics paraphernalia, and a weapon was found in his vehicle. Police also recovered nearly $2,000 in cash.
Senate President Steve Sweeney wants the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to operate the Atlantic City International Airport. The Press of Atlantic City reports that Sweeney believes this would provide a needed expansion of the airport. Congressman Jeff Van Drew says he was asked by Sweeney to be supportive of this effort.
