Public schools in Wildwood will be closed on January 28th for the visit of President Donald Trump. The Press of Atlantic City quotes an email written to staff by Superintendent Kenyon Kummings. Kummings cites that the school’s dismissal times are about the same time as the doors open to the Wildwoods Convention Center.
Don’t count on seeing democratic Governor Phil Murphy at President Trump’s rally in Wildwood later this month. Murphy told reporters that the President has “misplaced priorities” for making a campaign swing through South Jersey to support Congressman Jeff Van Drew. Murphy has called Van Drew’s switch to the republican party “ridiculous and pathetic”.

Students who attend the Woodstown-Pilesgrove Regional School District in Salem County have the day off due to an overnight bomb threat. NJ.com reports that all classes in the district are cancelled, and other school activities are also off. A statement was posted on the school district’s website this morning.
Today is sentencing day for the Ventnor woman who admitted to killing her mother and grandmother for their money. 43 year old Heather Barbera will appear in court today to face the music. She pleaded guilty in October to first degree murder and first degree manslaughter charges.
A petition filed to change the form of government in Atlantic City failed to provide enough valid signatures and has been rejected. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the petition contained only 699 valid signatures, which is about 136 short.
