New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has signed a bill that is supposed to enhance access to public beaches. The measure recognizes the Public Trust Doctrine and is intended to improve beach access in northern New Jersey where in some towns, access is limited. This new access law ties beach fill projects to adequate public access.
The repaving of Route 147 between Middle Township and North Wildwood will begin on Monday. The New Jersey Department of Transportation announced that the repaving project will begin Monday morning and continue until Memorial Day. Traffic will be shifted into the one open lane during the project.

A 55 year old woman from North Cape May was arrested Wednesday night and charged with a drunk driving offense after her pickup truck struck a bicyclist. Police say Sun O. Payne was charged after officers found her pickup a short distance from the accident scene; the accident occurred at Bayshore and Fulling Mill roads.
Woodbine will be hosting a solar farm on a local landfill. Borough officials announced that a letter of intent has been signed that will result in the solar farm and a new revenue stream for Woodbine. The project is being developed by Nexamp.
New Jersey senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker want some answers from the Consumer Safety Product Commission on beach umbrellas. Both lawmakers are concerned about the safety of the umbrellas after one woman on a New Jersey beach suffered an impaled ankle after an umbrella became airborne. Existing safety standards will be examined.
Five puppies who are in need of medical care were found dumped along the side of a road in Cumberland County. The South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter is caring for the puppies and has raised over $4,800 to help defray medical costs. They have already been treated by a vet.

Harrah’s Resort and Bally’s Atlantic City Wild West will both have large sports betting facilities before the heart of the summer season.
