A Go Fund Me page has raised over $137,000 for the family of slain United States soldier Sgt. 1st Class Michael Goble of New Jersey. Goble was killed last week while seizing a Taliban weapons cache in Kunduz Province. Goble was 33 years old, and from Bergen County.
Atlantic City Police arrested two people over the weekend for drugs and gun violations. Police on Friday stopped a car on Atlantic Avenue and arrested the driver, Ameer Hamilton, and his passenger, Jacqueline Jones. Police found pot and a loaded handgun inside the vehicle.

Wildwood Catholic boys basketball coach Dave DeWeese can reach a career milestone Friday night. DeWeese is just one victory shy of 300 career wins and will attempt to hit that mark at the Boardwalk Basketball Classic against Boys Latin of Maryland.
The Wildwood Crest Borough Commission will deal with largely routine business during its final meeting of the year Friday morning. The Commission will amend a resolution dealing with the New Jersey Avenue Traffic Calming Plan for the Sunset Lake area, and conduct other routine business. The meeting begins Friday at 9:30am.
Cape May Point is thinking about starting a historical society. The Cape May Star and Wave reports that the topic was discussed at a commission meeting earlier this month. Deputy Mayor Anita VanHeeswyk suggested that a group could begin by collecting and compiling mementos from the Point.
The Boardwalk Basketball Classic tipped off Thursday afternoon in Wildwood and saw the hometown Lady Warriors trip up Lower Cape May, 52-17. A 60 year old man from Hamilton Township was seriously injured when a dump truck turned over on his car Thursday on the Black Horse Pike. Police say William Kovacs was airlifted to a local hospital following the accident. The truck driver is from Vineland; he was less seriously injured.
