The Middle Township Committee meets Monday afternoon and is expected to receive an update on public safety issues from Police Chief Chris Leusner during the Work Session portion of the meeting. Various appointments will be made at the regular meeting, and a contract for janitorial services will be ratified.
34 year old Michael Gibbons has been charged with using employees to clean his mother’s attic. Gibbons works as the Deputy Chief of the Atlantic County superintendent of elections. Gibbons also added non worked overtime hours to employees’ pay cards.
The Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City can now take sports bets on NBA games. Governor Murphy signed a measure on Friday that allows for the bets to be placed at the casino, even though it is owned by the same man who owns the Houston Rockets basketball team.
It’s seven years in a state prison for 51 year old Stephen Saunders of Camden. Saunders used to work at the Southern State Correctional Facility and last week was convicted on charges that he snuck drugs into the prison to sell to inmates. He was sentenced for the crime late last week.
Middle Township Police continue to search for the man who broke into several businesses in the Mayville section of the Township last Monday. Police released a photo of the man captured on surveillance video. Several businesses were burglarized during the crime spree and the suspect remains at large.

There’s a new plan in New Jersey to help expunge the criminal records for minor marijuana offenses. Democratic lawmakers have crafted another version of the bill that includes many of the ideas of Governor Phil Murphy. This bill will go directly to the floor of the New Jersey Senate for a vote.
