A casino workers union plans to picket the Tropicana Casino as early as Wednesday. The Press of Atlantic City reports that Local 54 of the Unite Here union says the picket line will form Wednesday evening. Contracts with nine casinos are expiring this week.

56 year old Lisa M. Maxey of Bridgeton lost her life in a boating accident on the Absecon Bay Monday morning. The Press of Atlantic City reports that Maxey was with four others on a power boat when the accident occurred. The investigation into the boating accident is ongoing.
Congressman Jeff Van Drew joined County officials at a Memorial Day ceremony held Monday afternoon. The ceremony was held at the Veterans’ Cemetery, which has been in existence for 42 years. Many other local communities held events Monday including Avalon, Cape May, and Stone Harbor, among others.

Atlantic City Police say six men from Atlantic County were arrested and charged with having illegal handguns and drugs in their possession. Police conducted a search at a home on South Florida Avenue and found loaded handguns and illegal drugs. Over $43,000 in cash was also seized by police.
Wildwood firefighters responded to a house fire on West Maple Avenue Saturday night. Fire crews say there were no injuries in the fire which was found in a second floor bathroom ceiling that extended into the attic. Smoke and water damage rendered the house uninhabitable. Middle Township Police announced a motor vehicle accident closed down a section of Route 47 early Sunday evening. The section of the highway between Indian Trail Road and Bayshore Road is closed due to the accident; motorists are being advised Sunday evening to take an alternate route.
North Wildwood Police charged 28 year old Matthew Wagner of Williamstown in connection with a fight outside of a bar in the city Saturday night. Police say a video surfaced that shows Wagner punching an individual in front of Flip Flopz bar shortly after 8pm Saturday. Wagner has been charged with aggravated assault and obstruction.
Wildwood Police have announced the passing of former sergeant Dominic Romeo. Romeo passed away Sunday morning. He served the department until 1992 and served the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7.
