There are several contested school board elections in Cape May County during today’s balloting. Middle Township, Ocean City, Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest are among the communities with contested elections. Stone Harbor needs to fill one seat, but nobody is on the ballot.
Swimming pools are on the election ballots in both Sea Isle City and Lower Township today. Voters will be asked if they support aquatic centers that would be constructed in both communities. The Lower Township center would be supported in part by a grant from the Cape May County Open Space program.

Election Day will be held on Tuesday which means soon the hundreds of signs come down, and airwaves are uncluttered by politicians. The polls will remain open on Tuesday until 8:00pm. Locally, voters are filling three legislative and two freeholder seats, with contested municipal races highlighted by those in Wildwood and Middle Township.
Avalon and Sea Isle City have both announced Veterans Day services to be held next Monday at 11:00am in their respective communities. Sea Isle City will hold its ceremony at Veterans Park; Avalon will hold its ceremony at Veterans Plaza, and commemorate the 100th birthday of a World War II veteran.
A lawsuit is coming from the family of ten year old Hailey McMullen, the girl who was killed on a carnival amusement ride last month in Cumberland County. A Vineland police officer alleges that Chief Rudy Beu would only promote him if the Chief could sleep with the officer’s wife, or daughter. NJ.com reports that a lawsuit was filed by Ronald DeMarchi on November 1st alleging the illegal activity. The officer says the Chief made numerous sexual comments about his wife and daughter.
Fire crews were called to the scene of a blaze at a Victorian style home on Howard Street in Cape May Sunday afternoon. The fire started shortly after 12 Noon on the first floor of the three story structure. The scene was cleared two hours later; there were no injuries.
New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal announced that more than 125 deputies will be dispatched around the State Tuesday to ensure compliance with election laws. Cape May County, and the other 20 counties, will all have deputies assigned to answer any questions that come during balloting on Tuesday.
