It was lights out in the shopping area near the Hamilton Mall Friday night. A transformer blew which caused a power outage in Hamilton Township, including at Hamilton Commons, home to Best Buy and other stores. About 2,000 customers in the area lost power.
Saturday night is Rotary Christmas Parade night in Lower Township. The skies are expected to dry out in time for the parade which will be held along a portion of Bayshore Road in North Cape May Saturday evening. The annual parade steps off at 6:00pm.
Individuals who are on parole or probation may be given the right to vote in New Jersey. State lawmakers are poised Monday to vote on a new bill in lame duck session that would restore these rights. Governor Murphy supports it.
A 64 year old woman stabbed her husband, and then herself, Thursday at the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City. Police say Majocyline Tan is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault after she stabbed her 72 year old husband. The incident occurred shortly before 10am.
There’s a good chance you will cast a vote in 2020 to decide if New Jersey should have legal recreational marijuana. Both branches of the state legislature will vote early next week to put the referendum question on the ballot next November.
Congressman Jeff Van Drew has reaffirmed his position that he will vote against the presidential impeachment. Van Drew told USA Today that there is nothing worthy of taking a president out of office. He also believes President Trump is helped politically by the impeachment process.
The form of government in Atlantic City may change. A citizens group has generated enough signatures on a ballot to require the City Clerk to conduct a review. If enough signatures are on the ballot, an election will be held to ask voters if they want the change.
