Superior Court Judge Julio Mendez says the referendum vote in Atlantic City to potentially change the form of government can go on. Mendez denied a request for an injunction on the matter on Wednesday. Registered voters will now decide the issue in an upcoming election.
A big early March event in Avalon has been cancelled due to concerns over the coronavirus. The 7 Mile Business and Community Association cancelled its Shop a Holics weekend, according to an announcement posted on the Avalon municipal website. The event traditionally attracts thousands to two locations to shop local merchants at discounted prices.
Erin Burke is the new municipal clerk in Cape May. Burke was appointed to the position by the Cape May City Council. Burke is replacing Patricia Harbora, who previously served as municipal clerk.

Car dealer Gabe Staino has dropped out of the race for a vacant seat on the Ocean City council. Staino learned he would not meet the residency requirements and pulled out of the race on Tuesday. Staino moved to Ocean City last June, leaving him one month short of the residency required.
