A Pleasantville man has been arrested and charged with stealing two golf carts from Holy Spirit High School. Absecon Police say 25 year old Jahil L. Barley attempted to sell the carts on Craigslist. The burglary occurred on Tuesday.
State Senator-elect Mike Testa will be sworn in today. Testa replaces Congressman Jeff Van Drew, who vacated the office to take a seat in Congress. Testa’s running mates, who were also victorious in last month’s elections, will be sworn in next month.
Governor Phil Murphy is defending the decision by Rutgers University to spend $4 million a year on new football coach Greg Schiano. Stockton University has received an $8 million donation from Avalon resident John Scarpa. Scarpa donated the funding to the university, which promptly renamed two buildings in honor of the donation. Scarpa was involved in the first publicly traded cellular company in the United States.
The Philadelphia Phillies starting rotation got a lot better late Wednesday. The Phillies announced they have signed former New York Mets pitcher Zach Wheeler to a five year contract worth $118 million. Wheeler won 11 games with the Mets last year, and struck out 195 batters.
