Police in Wildwood Crest will be cracking down on distracted driving infractions through the month of April, which begins tomorrow. Police say they are participating in the “U Drive, U Text, U Pay” campaign. Over 2,800 people lost their lives nationwide three years ago due to distracted driving.
Cape May Police announced that parking meters in the Victorian resort will be turned on Thursday. Parking meters will be turned on in the Washington Street Mall and Carpenter’s Lane area starting tomorrow. Other meters are turned on May 1st.

New Jersey reported 61 new deaths from coronavirus Tuesday. There were over 4,300 new cases of the virus statewide. State officials say one out of every five residents is fully vaccinated.
Lower Township Police have a new, updated website. Police say the new website is now available at lowertownshippolice.com and has new features including the ability to fill out a police report, sending anonymous tips, and others. Police say more new information will be added.
Coronavirus cases are inching up a bit, including in Cape May County. The County reported 40 new cases of the virus on Tuesday, with a dozen of them being in Lower Township. Cape May County has over 23,000 residents who have been fully vaccinated.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will sign a new bill into law that will permit early, in person voting. The bill will allow people to cast their votes at certain polling locations early, if they choose to do so. For the general election, voting can take place ten days before the actual election day.
Cape May County reported 37 new cases of coronavirus on Monday. Seven of the 16 municipalities are in single digits with the number of overall cases. Lower and Middle townships have 72 resident cases each.
