A new poll issued by Stockton University today puts the congressional race in a virtual dead heat. The new poll released Friday shows democrat Amy Kennedy one percentage point ahead of republican Jeff Van Drew. The poll’s margin of error is 3.7 percent.
Atlantic County reported 83 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, with them pretty evenly split between genders. Atlantic County is now just shy of 6,000 cumulative cases during the pandemic.
Most communities in Cape May County will be holding trick or treating tomorrow. The times vary by community, but most candy collection will be held between the hours of 5:00-8:00pm. Many individual trunk or treat celebrations in municipalities have been cancelled due to the pandemic.

The daily coronavirus case count in New Jersey is clearly going in the wrong direction. State officials announced Friday that there are 2,089 new cases of the virus, the first time we have surpassed the 2,000 figure since early May. There were nearly 300 new cases reported today in Essex County alone.
Cape May County reported 15 additional residential cases of coronavirus on Thursday. Lower, Middle, and Upper townships, along with Ocean City, all have over 20 cases apiece. There were no additional cases reported in long term care facilities.

A new Rutgers Eagleton poll gives both democratic candidates 30-point leads over republican rivals in next week’s election. New Jersey has typically gone to democratic candidates in recent presidential elections.
Coronavirus has directly impacted the Cumberland County Correctional Facility. Reports say that one inmate and four corrections officers have all tested positive for Covid-19 this week. The Daily Journal reports that 84 inmates were quarantined.
An an attempt by State Senator Michael Testa to limit some of the executive orders from Governor Phil Murphy was blocked by legislative democrats Thursday. There have been 28 confirmed outbreaks of coronavirus in New Jersey schools since August, and three of them have taken place in Cape May County.
