New restrictions as a result of the spread of coronavirus go into effect today. Starting today, no business in New Jersey may serve food or alcoholic drinks between the hours of 10:00pm and 5:00am. Bar stools are also eliminated from businesses. However, outdoor service can continue beyond these hours and take out is also available.
Wildwood Catholic Academy basketball star Marianna Papazoglou is headed to the University of Pennsylvania. Papazoglou signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to to attend the university to continue her collegiate career. Margaret Mace Elementary School in North Wildwood has had an exposure to Covid-19. Superintendent Christopher Armstrong wrote a letter to parents Wednesday, saying a staff member has tested positive. The school has now put a Covid-19 dashboard on its website, mmace.com.
33 year old Thomas Malinowski of Galloway was killed Wednesday morning when his vehicle collided with a school bus. The accident occurred on North Pitney Road, according to police. The driver of the bus and two students exited the bus safely. Malinowski was pronounced dead at the scene.
Governor Phil Murphy on Wednesday committed an additional $60 million in CARES Act funding for small businesses in the Garden State. This funding is in addition to $70 million in federal funds already allocated for the current phase of the program. Phase 3 significantly expands eligibility for the grant program.
Cape May County added 39 new cases of coronavirus Wednesday, with one third of them being in Lower Township. Lower Township now has 60 community cases of the virus, and Middle Township has 48. New cases were added in nine of the County’s 16 municipalities. There are 12 non resident active cases.
61 year old Lacey H. Jones Jr. of Bridgeton lost his life Tuesday afternoon when a car he was riding in was struck by another vehicle in Vineland. Police say a tractor trailer collided with the car. No charges have been filed, but police are still investigating.
There were 3,078 new cases of coronavirus reported by the State on Wednesday. 15 additional deaths were reported, and hospitalizations are on the way up. Over 16,000 state residents have died from this virus.
Crest Memorial School is going to an all-virtual learning platform until November 20th. The all-virtual platform started on Monday. Superintendent David Del Conte, Jr. announced in a letter that three more students tested positive for Covid-19 last week. The school is planning to re-open to students on Monday, November 23rd.
