One person is dead, and two others are injured following a shooting incident in Pleasantville on Thursday. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office reports that the shooting occurred Thursday afternoon in Linden Avenue. Killed in the shooting was 26 year old Maurice Hampton of Pleasantville. The suspect remains at large.
Middle Township Police have charged a 28 year old man with breaking into a home on Whippoorwill Lane and stealing two guns and some sports memorabilia. Police say Eric Osmundsen has been charged with the crime. The items that were stolen were recovered; Osmundsen was taken to the Cape May County Jail.
The United States Coast Guard rescued a kayaker who was in distress off the coast of Longport on Thursday. The Coast Guard says the man was rescued near Longport Dog Beach; he was clinging to the side of his vessel. The man was transported to Shore Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Atlantic City Police are considering a new substation on the city’s boardwalk. There were two recent incidents on the boardwalk that drew the ire of merchants who say they need better protections from police. The city plans on hiring two dozen special law enforcement officers.
Many of the popular events held annually during Skimmers’ Weekend in Sea Isle City will not be held this year. Mayor Len Desiderio announced that events like the vendors market on the Promenade and the food court will not be held due to Covid-19 restrictions. The antique auto show will be held.
