West Cape May has cancelled four meetings for April. The upcoming environmental commission, planning/zoning, shade tree commission, and historical preservation commission meetings have all been cancelled by the Borough.
Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian announced that the city’s council meeting for next week has been cancelled. There is no word of a makeup date for the meeting scheduled for March 26th. City Hall has now been closed by the city, along with all recreational facilities.
Congressman Jeff Van Drew announced that he is in support of the proposed coronavirus relief package. Van Drew says he would like to see financial support for individuals to keep them solvent, and loan forgiveness for small businesses. Van Drew is also asking for evictions and foreclosure moratoriums.
The mayors of the four Wildwood communities have issued a joint statement asking non-residents to stay home at their primary residences, for now. There are now 427 cases of coronavirus in the State of New Jersey. Governor Phil Murphy updated the state Wednesday afternoon on the actual numbers. There have been 162 additional positive test results provided to the State.
All events scheduled at the Wildwoods Convention Center have been cancelled through the end of April. The Center informed Coastal Broadcasting Systems today that all events are off, including the Coast Guard Ball, Fishing and Boating Expo, and Beast of the East Cheer Competition.
New Jersey State Senator Michael Testa will support bills Thursday that will help families who are struggling with the fallout from coronavirus. Testa calls the bills “pro-business, and pro-employee”. Various relief bills were approved in the State Assembly earlier this week.
Coronavirus has reached as far south as Atlantic County. Atlantic County officials issued a press release saying a man in his 60s with underlying health conditions has tested positive. The man is quarantined at home. A commercial lab verified the results late Tuesday.
