Governor Phil Murphy has changed his mind. Murphy announced Monday that yes, gun shops are essential businesses in the Garden State and will remain open. This reverses the Governor’s previous policy that ordered the gun shops to remain closed.
The Shop Rite supermarket chain is taking steps to regulate the number of people inside the store at the same time. The supermarket chain announced that some stores will regulate visitation to about 30 percent of regular occupancy. This directive applies to the Shop Rite located in Rio Grande, according to NJ.com.
Belmar has closed its boardwalk to the public. Officials in that beach town say the move is to protect individuals from the spread of Covid-19. Some other communities are expected to consider closing their beaches and/or boardwalks.
Cape May County has five more cases of coronavirus. County officials confirmed Sunday evening that five new cases have been added to our count. Lower Township has four cases, Middle Township has three, and there are two apiece in Cape May City and Avalon.
Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian is calling for the prohibition of online platforms to conduct short term rentals, and he’s asking individuals and realtors to follow suit. Gillian cites Governor Phil Murphy’s executive order 108 for eliminating short term rentals for now. Many communities have definitions of short term rentals in their code books.
161 people have died as a result of coronavirus in New Jersey. State health officials announced Sunday that more than 2,000 additional positive test results have been received, and the State has now had 13,386 infected with COVID-19. Bergen County has over 2,000 cases.
Around 700 police officers have tested positive for coronavirus in the State of New Jersey, according to State Police Col. Patrick Callahan. Callahan says there are also about 700 officers currently quarantined at home. Callahan says cops have tested positive in all 21 New Jersey counties.

The travel advisory does not change the rules of an executive order signed by Governor Phil Murphy that requires individuals to stay at home. Murphy says he strongly encourages social distancing.
