Wildwood Police have arrested 29 year old Danial Dombkowski of the city on charges that he entered an unlocked vehicle and attempted to steal the car on New Year’s morning. Police say Dombkowski was charged with theft, possession of marijuana, and other offenses. He was taken to the Cape May County Jail.
Atlantic City Police arrested a 38 year old man from Bridgeton who forced a woman into prostitution at a city hotel. Police say Bryant Siderio was charged with weapons and drug offenses, and for promoting prostitution. 23 year old Jada Bell of Atlantic City was also hit with criminal charges. A 30 year old woman…
The North Wildwood City Council will hold its reorganization meeting Tuesday afternoon. Taking their respective oaths of office will be councilmembers David Del Conte and Kellyann Tolomeo. Council will also decide who the new Council President will be for 2021.
The Lower Township Council will reorganize Monday evening at Lower Cape May Regional High School. Swearing in ceremonies of Mayor Frank Sippel, Deputy Mayor David Perry, and Councilman Kevin Coombs will all take place. William Priole will also be sworn in as the new police chief.
Matthew Ksiazek is the new mayor of West Wildwood. Ksiazek was named the mayor unanimously by the all-new Borough Commission that was sworn in to office on New Year’s Day. John Banning and Joseph Segrest are also new members of the Commission.
Two people lost their lives during a wrong way motor vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway in Barnegat on Friday. Police say the accident took place near mile marker 68. A vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes caused the two car accident.
New Jersey reported 119 new deaths from coronavirus on Saturday. State officials reported over 5,500 new cases of the virus. Hospitalizations and the rate of transmission dropped again. Governor Murphy is asking residents to “stay vigilant”.
Freeholders are no longer freeholders, starting New Year’s Day. In New Jersey, the title of “freeholder” will switch to “County Commissioner” starting on Friday. The name “freeholder” was considered offensive by some. A bill abolishing the title “freeholder” was approved in Trenton this summer.
A winning Jersey Cash 5 lottery ticket was sold at the ShopRite supermarket in Rio Grande. The drawing was held on December 30th and the ticket is worth $272,623. The winning numbers were 5, 7, 13, 21, and 31, with the XTRA number being 2.
New Jersey reported 5,107 new cases of coronavirus on the final day of 2020. There were 90 new deaths reported by health officials. The number of deaths during the pandemic has now exceeded 17,000 statewide.
