A commercial kitchen fire in a structure Monday evening in West Cape May drew a response from local fire companies. There are 59 new cases of coronavirus reported in Cape May County. County officials also say on Tuesday that 73 residents at the Crest Haven Nursing Home received their first doses of the new Covid-19 vaccine. New Jersey has administered 100,000 doses of the vaccine to date.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is now supervising the Linwood Police Department. The Office issued a statement saying the move is necessary due to several complaints of alleged misconduct against Linwood Police Chief John Hamilton. The Prosecutor’s Office will supervise Linwood Police “until further notice”.
Work continues in January on the Middle Thorofare Bridge in Lower Township. The County-operated bridge will remain with one lane of traffic. There are 54 new cases of coronavirus in Cape May County. County health officials reported the new cases on Monday with 11 of the new cases being in Upper Township. An 88 year old man from Dennis Township is the latest to succumb to the virus locally.
