Seth Grossman is back in politics. Grossman is going to seek the republican nomination for a New Jersey Senate seat in the 2nd District, which represents Atlantic County. Grossman faces an uphill battle as former Assemblyman Vince Polistina is seeking the GOP nomination.
Cape May County has dropped below 300 active community cases of coronavirus. County officials announced Monday that there were 29 new positive cases on Monday, which brings the County total to 297. Half of the towns in the County each have fewer then ten cases.
It was an unusual day on the Ben Franklin Bridge. A tractor trailer overturned earlier today, tossing thousands of onions onto the bridge span. There will be more overnight bridge closures on Avalon Boulevard this week. County officials announced that overnight closures of the Ingram’s Thorofare Bridge will take place Wednesday and Thursday evenings, starting at 7:00pm. There could be some big delays during the daytime as the westbound lane is being reconstructed.
New Jersey has added another 2,201 coronavirus cases on Monday. State officials say there were 20 additional deaths. The rate of transmission is still over the magic number of one, but has held steady.
New Jersey has provided 2.5 million coronavirus vaccinations. New figures announced by the State on Monday shows that a half million vaccinations were provided within one week. The Atlantic City mega center is providing about 3,000 Pfizer vaccines daily.
Gasoline prices are now $2.93 per gallon in Cape May County. Mid Atlantic AAA reports that our prices locally are four cents above the state average. The national average is $2.77 per gallon.
Maliha has a new home, at the Cape May County Zoo. Zoo officials announced Monday that Maliha is an eight year old female snow leopard who comes to us from the Rogers Williams Zoo in Rhode Island. She will be the intended mate for Bataar, a male snow leopard.
Cape May County reported fewer than two dozen new coronavirus cases on Sunday. 22 new cases were reported. Our County has just over 300 residential cases with nearly one half of them being in Middle and Lower townships.
New Jersey reported only 2,077 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, one of the lowest one day totals in recent months. There were 17 new deaths to report. New Jersey is closing in on 2.5 million vaccinations.
