There was an unsubstantiated threat on Wildwood’s amusement piers Sunday night. City police say someone called 911 alleging that there was a threat directed at the piers. The piers were evacuated as a precaution, and a multi jurisidctional search of the piers turned up nothing. The evacuations were lifted early Monday morning.
There was a contested primary for the republican nomination for Borough Council in Stone Harbor Tuesday night. Bunny Parzych and Frank Dallahan were the winners, defeating Robert Bickford. This is essentially the municipal election in Stone Harbor as no democrats have intended to run for any of the three Council seats.
Vince Polistina won the republican primary for State Senate in Atlantic County over challenger Seth Grossman. Polistina will square off against democrat Vince Mazzeo in the fall. Meanwhile, democrat Marty Small won the democratic primary for Mayor in Atlantic City. Small crushed Tom Foley in the primary.
This year’s gubernatorial race is between democrat Phil Murphy and republican Jack Ciattarelli. Ciattarelli won the republican nomination for governor in a three horse primary Tuesday night. Ciattarelli claims Murphy is not really from New Jersey since he wasn’t raised or educated here, and never owned a business in the Garden State.
A couple from Middle Township have been charged with child endangerment and other offenses. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office announced that charges were brought against 42 year old Dante Norton and 37 year old Andria Norton. Middle Township Police assisted in the investigation.
Sea Isle City Mayor Len Desiderio announced that some beach access points on the inlet beach on the west side of the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge have been closed. Desiderio says erosion is to blame. One person was killed and two were wounded during a shooting incident Monday night in Atlantic City. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office reports that the shooting occurred near Pennsylvania and Magellan avenues in the city. 19 year old Samir Ross of Atlantic City lost his life in the incident. The shooter remains at large.
Cape May County will be conducting a test of its Code Red emergency alert system during the early afternoon hours of June 17th. County officials announced today that the test will occur sometime after 1pm. The alert is used for countywide emergency and alerts, and is similar to the system used in local municipalities.
